A BRIEF BIOGRAPHY OF GLORIA HARVEY CRIBBS AND RUSSELL ROBERT CRIBBS
(found in the History of Bryan County, Georgia)

     Gloria Harvey Cribbs was born June 14, 1938, in the old Norden Community of Bryan County to Oscar B. and Lera Parrish Harvey.  There were seven children born of this union.  They are Melba, Raymond, Yuvonne, Barry, Gloria, Lois, and
Dale.  All attended and graduated from Bryan County High School with the exception of Barry, who died in infancy.

    Gloria married Russell Robert Cribbs August 8, 1956.  He is from the Stilson Community of Bulloch County.  His parents were Robert Lee and Pearl Kangeter Cribbs.  There are six children in his family; Leon, Christine, James, Alma, Alvis (Bo), and Russell.

    Russell and Gloria live in Bryan County near the old homeplace.  Russell served in the U. S. Army for two years.  He was stationed in Germany where Gloria joined him.  They enjoyed touring in this country.  Russell worked for the Atlantic Coastline Railroad before becoming an insurance appraiser.  He has been with Purcell Appraisal Service in Savannah for several years.  Gloria works with the Bryan County Health Department.  They are both members of the Beulah Baptist Church.

    They have three children who all graduated from Bryan County High School.  Vicki Lynn born February 4, 1959, in Statesboro, Georgia, Bulloch County, graduated from the University of Georgia and received her Master's Degree in Clothing and Textiles.  She married Capt. Charles Torrance of the U. S. Army on April 14, 1984.  They are presently stationed in Ft. Sill, Oklahoma.

    Wayne was born August 4, 1960, in Savannah, Georgia, Chatham County.  He is an avid hunter and fisherman.  He is in the Boilermaker Apprentice Program, presently employed at the Sherer Plant in Forsyth.  He lives in __?___, Georgia.

    Cathy was born December 3, 1961, in Savannah, Georgia, Chatham County.  She is attending Armstrong State College in Savannah, Georgia.
