1992 - RALPH "BEN" CRIBBS, 75, Indiana, formerly of Black Lick, died Wednesday, Dec. 23, 1992, in Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.
    The son of Ralph H. and Celia Gehring Cribbs, he was born March 12, 1917, in Grafton.
    Mr. Cribbs was a member of Acacia Lodge 355, F&AM, Blairsville; Coudersport Consistory; and Tall Cedars of Lebanon Westmoreland Forest 77.  He was a former member of the board of directors of S&T Bank, Black Lick branch.
    Prior to his retirement in 1975, he was owner for 30 years of Cribbs Trucking, Black Lick.
    Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth Pondy Cribbs; a son, Ralph B., Jr., Indiana; two daughters, Mrs. Pete (Sheila) Jorgenson, Clarksburg RD 1, and Mrs. Anthony (Elaine) Rizza, McMurray; several grandchildren; and a brother, Dr. William D., Newtown.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Marion and Robert Cribbs.
    Friends will be received from 5-9 pm. Friday in the Richard L. Shoemaker Funeral Home, Blairsville.  A graveside service will be held at 11 am Saturday in Blairsville Cemetery with the Rev. George P. Jones officiating.

1945 - JOHN BERNARD CRIBBS, 350 Grant street, died in the Indiana Hospital at 4:45 o'clock yesterday afternoon.  He had been in poor health for the past eight months and was admitted to the hospital the first of this week.
    He was a son of the late John B. and Mary (Borland) Cribbs and was born February 6, 1891 in Tarentum, moving to Indiana when a young lad and living in this community since that time.
    For many years he was employed as a plumber for the late John F. Steetle.
    Surviving is one sister, Miss Margaret Cribbs of Tarentum.
    Friends will be received at the Leydic Funeral Home, Wayne Ave., after 7:00 o'clock this evening.  Services will be conducted from the funeral home Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock.  Reverend H. L. Lovelace, pastor of the Evangelical Church of Indiana, will officiate.
    Interment will be made Monday in the Prospect cemetery, Tarentum. (3-1-1945).

1943 - MRS. ELIZABETH (KESSLER) CRIBBS, 80, died at 10:20 am. Tuesday in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Albert H. Fisher, in East Pittsburgh.  She was born August 11, 1862, in Jefferson County and had lived at various times in Smicksburg, Willet and Plumville.  She was thrice married, her first husband, Ellsworth Fleck, dying in 1897; her second, John Kessler, in 1920 and her third, George Cribbs, in 1941.
    Surviving with the daughter mentioned are three sons: Walter Fleck of Ernest; Lester Kessler of Dayton, Pa., and Bert Kessler of Wilkinsburg.  There are 18 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
    Friends are being received in Bowser Funeral Home, Plumville, where services will be conducted at 10:30 am. Friday.  The Rev. J. B. Troutman will officiate and interment will be in Panie Cemetery, Jefferson County. (4-13-1943).

 1967 - JOHN K. CRIBBS, 83, of Indiana RD 1, died Tuesday, March 29, 1967, at 5:55 pm. in Indiana Hospital.
    Born March 20, 1884 in Avonmore, he was a son of Samuel E. and Hannah Jane Dorr Cribbs and had spent most of his life in Armstrong Twp.
    He was a member of Curry Run Presbyterian Church where he had served as an elder for a number of years.
    Survivors include his wife, Alice Myrtle Kaufman Cribbs; two sons: Ralph E. and L. Dale both of Indiana RD 1; four daughters: Mrs. Elmer (Alice) Uncapher, Indiana; Mrs. Samuel (Jennie) McCormick, Rochester Mills; Mrs. Glenn (Pauline) Campbell, Indiana RD 2; Mrs. Neal (Eva) Uncapher, Pittsburgh; one brother, Enos C., of Indiana; two sisters: Mrs. James (Mabel) Irwin and Mrs. Darry (Annabelle) King, both of Indiana; 35 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren.
    A daughter, Mrs. Joseph (Mildred) Doty is deceased.
    Friends will be received after 7:30 pm. today and Thursday from 3-5 and 7-9 pm. at Robinson-Lytle's, Indiana, where services will be conducted on Friday at 1:30 pm.  Rev. William S. Merwin, DD, will officiate and interment will be made in Oakland cemetery, Indiana.

1974 - MRS. ALICE MYRTLE CRIBBS, 94, or RD 2, Indiana, died Nov. 19.  She was born in White Township Aug. 6, 1880, to Michael and Pauline Smith Kaufman.  She was a member of Shelocta United Presbyterian Church and had lived most of her life in Armstrong Township of Indiana County.
    She was the widow of John Kirklan Cribbs who died in 1967.  A daughter, Mildred, is also deceased.
    Surviving are two sons, Ralph E. and L. Dale Cribbs, both of RD 1, Indiana; four daughters, Mrs. Elmer Uncapher, Indiana; Mrs. Samuel McCormick of RD 1, Rochester Mills; Mrs. Glenn Campbell of RD 2, Indiana; Mrs. Neal Uncapher, RD 7, Gibsonia; 35 grandchildren, 75 great-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. H. M. Beatty of RD 1, Indiana.
    Services were on Friday (Nov. 29) in Robinson-Lytle's by the Rev. Thomas Francis and burial was in Oakland Cemetery at Indiana.

1989 - RALPH E. CRIBBS, 82, Indiana, died Tuesday, March 14, 1989, in the Indiana Hospital.
    A son of John K. and Myrtle Kaufman Cribbs, he was born June 3, 1906, in Indiana.
    Mr. Cribbs was a member of the Shelocta Community Presbyterian Church; Benjamin Franklin Lodge 753 F&AM; Coudersport Consistory; William S. Daugherty Royal Arch 313; BPOE Lodge 931; Indiana Grange 1656; Indiana Fox and Coon Club.
    He had lived his entire life in Indiana County and had been a dairy farmer for over 50 years.
    Surviving are his wife, Mabel Knupp Cribbs, whom he married Aug. 26, 1930; two sons and four daughters: John E., San Francisco, Calif.; Robert O., Fresno, Calif.; Mrs. Betty Solinski, Aliquippa; Mrs. Perry Wetzel, Mercer; Mrs. William (Marilyn) Engelleitner, York; Mrs. James (Carol) Hullihen, Phoenix, Ariz.; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, L. Dale, Indiana RD 5; three sisters: Mrs. Alice Uncapher, Huston; Mrs. Jennie McCormick, Indiana; Mrs. Neale (Eva) Uncapher, Connery.
    He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Mrs. Pauline Campbell and Mrs. Mildred Doty.
    Friends will  be received from 3-5 and 7-9 pm. Thursday at Robinson-Lytle's, Indiana, where services will be held at 1:30 pm. Friday, Rev. Donald E. Shamble, officiating.  Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery.
    Masonic services will be held at 7 pm. Thursday in the funeral home.

1926 - MRS. MARGARET E. CRIBBS, Mrs. Margaret Elizabeth Cribbs, aged 56 years, died at her home in Washington township suddenly with heart trouble on February 5.  She was wife of G. A. Cribbs.  She was a member of the M. E. church at Plumville.  The deceased was a daughter of John J. Little, of Marion Center.  She is survived by her husband, G. A. Cribbs and seven children.  Burial was made at Beracha cemetery, near Plumville.

1904 - MRS. ELIZABETH CRIBBS, wife of Henry G. Cribbs, died at her home near Plumville on Sabbath, May 15, at 2 pm. of a complication of diseases, at the age of 68 years and two months.  Her maiden name was Harkleroad and she was born in Armstrong county in 1835.  She had lived in the vicinity of Plumville for nearly 40 years.  She is survived by her husband and eight children: Levi A., of Pomona, Mich.; Mrs. J. W. Hoover, of Home; James G., of Denton; William T., George A., J. Elmer and Christopher F., all of Plumville, and Miss Dollie, at home.  All the children were present at their mother's death bed.  The deceased was a consistent member of the Lutheran church, and was highly respected in her community.  The funeral service was conducted by the Rev. Schmucker, interment being made in Beracha cemetery.

1955 - MRS. CLARINDA (GEORGE) CRIBBS, widow of Silas Cribbs, of Elderton, died Wednesday, February 9, at 4:20 am. in the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Miles Rupp of Kittanning RD 1.
    She was born January 1, 1872, in Plumcreek Township, Armstrong County, a daughter of Alexander and Mary Jane Burns George.
    Mrs. Cribbs was a member of the Elderton Presbyterian Church.
    She is survived by four daughters: Mrs. Miles (Grace) Rupp of Kittanning RD 1; Mrs. Wilbert (Zoe) Wood of Shelocta RD; Mrs. Blaine (Martha) Wood of Elderton and Mrs. Stanley (Merle) Schall of Elderton; one son, Glenn Cribbs of Eustis, Fla.  One son, John Cribbs, preceded his mother in death.  20 grandchildren also survive.
    Services will be held Saturday, February 12, at 2:30 pm. at the Clark Funeral Home, Elderton.  The Rev. F. H. Daubenspeck of Ford City will officiate and burial will follow in Elderton cemetery.
    Friends may pay respect at the Funeral Home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 10 pm., both Thursday and Friday.

1944 - JOHN W. CRIBBS, son of Mrs. Clarinda George Cribbs and the late Silas Cribbs of Elderton, died Friday at 1:30 pm. of acute appendicitis in the Armstrong County Hospital at Kittanning.   He was born Sept. 25, 1896, in Plumcreek Twp.
    The deceased lived most of his life in or near Elderton until Oct. 1940 when he moved with his family to Warren, Ohio, where a family residence was maintained at 314 Park Ave.  Mr. Cribbs worked practically all of his life in the gas fields as a driller and contractor.  He was a veteran of World War I, being a member of the medical corps in the A.E.F. with which he served overseas for about one year.  He was a member of the Presbyterian Church and the I.O.O.F. of Elderton.
    Surviving are his wife, Margaret E.; one daughter at home, Dona Lee; another daughter, Mrs. James W. Herron of New Kensington; his mother, Mrs. Clarinda Cribbs of Elderton; one brother, Glenn of Bristlerville, Ohio; and four sisters, Mrs. Miles Rupp of Kittanning RD, Mrs. Wilbert Wood of Shelocta RD, Mrs. Blaine Wood of Elderton, and Mrs. Stanley Schall of Elderton.
    Friends will be received in the home of Mr. Cribbs' brother-in-law, D. L. Solinger of Elderton until Monday at 2:30 pm. when private funeral services will be held.   The Elderton I.O.O.F. will hold services Sunday evening.  Military services will be held at the grave.

1971 - IMOGENE CRIBBS CRAVENER, 55, Kittanning RD 5, died Sunday, Jan. 10, 1971, at noon, in the Allegheny Valley Hospital, Natrona Heights.
    A daughter of Clark and Lona Bell Cribbs, she was born July 21, 1915, in Plumcreek Twp.
    She was a member of the Salem United Church of Christ and a charter member of the Woodmen of the World, Grove 6269.
    Surviving are her husband, Edward F. Cravener, two daughters: Mrs. Donna M. Heckhart, North Glenn, Colo.: Mrs. Betty Lou Kimpel, Kittanning RD 2; a son Ronald R., Leechburg RD1; six grandchildren; five brothers: Porter Cribbs, Leechburg RD 1; Harry Cribbs, New Kensington; Arthur Cribbs, and Alex Cribbs, both of Rural Valley RD 1; two sisters: Mrs. Reba Shaffer, Elderton; Mrs. Evelyn Smith, Warren, Ohio.
    Friends will be received at the Carson Funeral Home, Rural Valley, today from 7-9 pm. and 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Tuesday.  Services will be held at the United Church of Christ, Kittanning RD 5, at 2 pm. Wednesday where the body will lie in state from 1 pm. until time of service.  The Rev. Johnnie Lengel will officiate and interment will be in the Salem United Church of Christ Cemetery.

1918 - JACOB A. CRIBBS, AGED MAN KILLED ON R.R. - Imagining he had work to do in the locality where he was killed, Jacob A. Cribbs, almost a lifelong resident of Black Lick, wandered from the home of his daughter, Mrs. Harry Clark, of that place, Monday forenoon and was struck and killed by a northbound train on the P.R.R., on what is known as the old Stoneback farm located about one and one-half miles below Black Lick.
   Mr. Cribbs was aged 83 years, 10 months, and 20 days.  His body was terribly mangled and was carried a distance along the track where it was found by a foreigner who notified a section crew who were working a short distance
below where the accident occurred.
   The man's remains were collected and put aboard the passenger train which leaves Indiana at 12:01 o'clock and taken to the Davis undertaking rooms in Blairsville, where it was prepared for burial.  Later the body was taken to the home of the deceased's daughter, Mrs. Harry Clark, where the funeral service was conducted on Wednesday afternoon by Rev. J. C. Burnworth, of Derry.  Burial was made in the Luther chapel cemetery, at Coral.
   At times Mr. Cribbs would develop unusual strength and during these spells would walk quite a distance and it is thought that it was while experiencing one of these conditions that he wandered away from home.  When these spells passed off he usually fell into a sleepy condition and it might have been possible that the man lay or sat down on the track and fell asleep.
   Another theory advanced for his death is that he is hard of hearing, and it is thought he might not have heard the approaching train.  Just why the men in charge of the train which killed him did not see him will possibly never be known.
   Jacob A. Cribbs was born in West Wheatfield township and had been a resident of Black Lick and vicinity most all his life.  He was a carpenter by trade.  Several years ago while working in the old Bell's Mills flouring mill one of his arms was caught in the machinery and ground off.
    He was twice married, his first wife being Mrs. Nancy Boyle, of Burrell township, to which union one child, G. I. Cribbs, of Derry, was born.  His second wife, was Miss Margaret Repine, of Burrell township.   The surviving children of this union are: Mrs. Harry Clark, of Black Lick; Charles Cribbs, of Freeport; Albert, of Vandergrift, and Mrs. Elmer Aultman, of near Kellysburg.  Two brothers, Marion Cribbs, of Graffton, near Black Lick, and George Cribbs, of near Heshbon, survive.

1973 - LOGAN LESTER CRIBBS, 74, of Gilpin Township, died at 2:45 pm. yesterday at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient since Sept. 18.
    Born Aug. 27, 1899 in Plumcreek Township, he was a son of Clark and Lona E. (Bell) Cribbs.
    He married Goldie Iona (Myers) Cribbs March 15, 1920 in Freeport and the couple celebrated their 53rd anniversary last March.
    Mr. Cribbs lived in Gilpin Township 53 years.  A coal miner, he retired from Maher Coal Mine of Hicks Coal Company in 1953 after 25 years of service.  From 1954 to 1962 he was superintendent of state highways in Armstrong County; from 1964 to 1970 he was Gilpin Township supervisor and constable for 30 years.
    He was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Leechburg and UMA Local 6986 of District 5 of Kiski Valley.
    Surviving are his wife; two sons, Logan Jr. of Sarver and Harold M. of Gilpin Township; three daughters, Mrs. Walter (June) Klingensmith of Gilpin Township, Mrs. Timothy (Lona Lee) Keagle of West Kittanning and Mrs. H. J. (Dorothy) Games of Gilpin Township; four brothers, Porter and Alex, both of Rural Valley; Harry of New Kensington, and Arthur of Elderton; two sisters, Mrs. Glenn (Reba) Shaffer of Elderton and Mrs. George (Evelyn) Smith of Warren, Ohio; 22 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
    A son, Robert Clark, died Feb. 9, 1966 and a sister, Mrs. Edward C. (Imogene) Cravener, on Jan. 13, 1971.
    Friends of Logan Lester Cribbs, who died Oct. 1, 1973, will be received 7 to 9 today and 2 to 4, 7 to 9 pm. tomorrow at Dean W. Cline Funeral Home, 260 Market St., Leechburg, where services will be at 11 am. Thursday with the Rev. Donald E. Hebrank, pastor of First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Leechburg, officiating.   Burial will be in the Forks Church Cemetery.  Arrangements by Cline.

1998 - MRS. SYLVIA JEANETTE CRIBBS, Homemaker,  BLYTHE, GA. -- Mrs. Sylvia Jeanette Cribbs, of 1460 Etterlee Road, died Thursday, April 23, 1998, at Medical College of Georgia Hospital, Augusta.
     The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Starling-Hatcher Funeral Home, Augusta, with the Rev. Jerry Redmond officiating. Burial will be in Bellevue Memorial Gardens, Grovetown.
    Mrs. Cribbs, a native of Orangeburg, S.C., was a homemaker and a member of Keysville Baptist Church.
    Survivors include her husband, Jordan Cribbs; four sons, Jimmy Cribbs and Robbie Cribbs, both of Hephzibah, Charlie DeLoach, Harlem, and James Cribbs, Blythe; a daughter, Sandra Hollinsworth, Savannah; three brothers, John Oglesby, Macon, Robert Oglesby, Symra, Fla., and Belver Oglesby, Atlanta; and nine grandchildren.
    Pallbearers will be Thomas Frybergen, Charles Davis, Noah Boone, Lonnie Hopkins, Johnnie Dodd and Ricky McDonald.
    The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

1956 - GILBERT DOTY CRIBBS, died at his home, 127 Main Street, Blairsville, Sunday, December 23, at 2:15 am.
    He was born August 4, 1876 in Westmoreland County, son of John and Euphemia Patterson Cribbs.
    He was a retired telegraph operator for the Pennsylvania Railroad and a life long resident of Blairsville,; a member of the Methodist Church, Blairsville.
    He is survived by one nephew, John Thompson of Norfolk, Va.  Mr. Cribbs made his home with Mr.and Mrs. James M. Paul.  Mrs. Paul is a niece of his wife.
    Friends will be received at the Ferguson Funeral Home, Blairsville, from 2-5 pm today and on Tuesday from 7-9 pm.  Services will be Wednesday, December 26, at 2 pm, the Rev. H. M. Pape officiating.  Interment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery.

1953 - MRS. NANCY FLEMING CRIBBS, died at her home, 127 Main street, Blairsville, Tuesday, March 31, at 7:00 am.
    She was born in Conemaugh Township, Indiana County, July 2, 1874, a daughter of William and Margaret McClarren Fleming.  She was a member of the First Methodist Church at Blairsville.
    She is survived by her husband, Gilbert D. Cribbs, and a number of nieces and nephews.
    Friends will be received at the Ferguson Funeral Home, Blairsville, after 7 pm. today, where services will be held Thursday, April 2, at 2 pm.  The Rev. John N. Hempstead will officiate.
    Interment will be in Blairsville Cemetery.

1993 - HARVEY HART CRIBBS, Died Thursday, Sept 16,1993, at 6:30 a.m. at his residence.  He was 78, a resident of Baton Rouge since 1944 and a native of Vixon [Louisiana].
    He was owner and founder of Cribbs Inc.  Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., 2 to 9 p.m. Friday and after 8 a.m. Saturday.  Religious services at 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel, conducted by the Rev. Bain Stagg.  Interment in Roselawn Memorial Park Survived by wife of 55 years, Alta Lammert Cribbs, Baton Rouge; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mrs. Donald (Lecarol) Chatelain Sr. and Mrs. Virgil Guy (Harvine) Joiner Jr., all of Baton Rouge; three brothers,  Louis C. Cribbs, Baton Rouge, William Hoyt Cribbs, Angola, and Louie Duane Cribbs, Monroe.  Five grandchildren, Donald E. Jr., Robert H.. and Margaret Allynn Chatelain, Kyla Ann Adams and Carrie Lee Joiner; four great-grandchildren, Jennifer Hart Chatelain, Lauren Michelle Chatelain, Mallory Marie Chatelain and Matthew Hart Chatelain; five nieces, Mrs. James (Judy) Foster, Mrs. Brice (Carrie) Croswell, Mrs. Michael (Rhonda) McShane, Mrs. Don (Donna) Williams and Elizabeth Ann Cribbs; and two nephews, William Hoyt "Billy" Cribbs and Louie Clark Cribbs.  Pallbearers will be Donald E. Chatelain Jr., Robert H. Chatelain, Donald E. Chatelain Sr., Virgil Guy Joiner, Michael S. Foster, Charles T. Coghlan, Walter R Smiley, R. 1999 - ALTA LAMMERT CRIBBS, Owner and CEO of Cribbs Inc., and a resident of Baton Rouge since 1944, she died at 5:21 a.m. Saturday, March 13, 1999, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, Baton Rouge. She was 80 and a native of Monroe. Visiting was held at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday. 1970 - RUTH L. CRIBBS, Funeral services will be held Sunday for Miss Ruth L. Cribbs, of Reynoldsville RD 1 (Sandy Valley), who died Friday [Oct. 23, 1970] in her home following a heart attack.   She was 71.
    Friends will be received in the Ober Funeral Home in Reynoldsville where services will be held at 1:30 pm Sunday.  The Rev. Michael T. Hullihan will officiate and burial will be in the Sandy Valley Cemetery.
    Born November 28, 1898, in Sandy Valley, she was a daughter of Theodore and Margaret Henry Cribbs.  She was a member of the Sandy Valley Church and had been a resident of the Sandy Valley area most of her life.
    Surviving are a brother, Leonard Cribbs, of Eureka, Mo., a nephew and two nieces.

1966 - ETTIE ELMA CRIBBS, Mrs. Ettie Elma Cribbs, of Home RD 1 (Plumville), died Saturday in the Adrian Hospital at the age of 49.
    Born May 21, 1917, in Rayne Township, Indiana County, she was a daughter of Harry and Margaret Allen Hadden Lukehart.  She was married January 19, 1940, to Walter Cribbs.  A life long resident of the Plumville area, she was a member of the Old Mahoning Baptist Church.
    Surviving are her husband; a son, Jerry, with the US Army at Ft. Dix, NJ; a daughter, Mrs. Barl Stahlman, of Punxsutawney RD 1; four sisters, Mrs. Fred Heberling, of Smicksburg RD 1; Mrs. Cloud Cribbs and Mrs. Martha Fisher, of Home RD 1; and Mrs. Carl Haggerty, of Indiana RD 2; and two brothers, John Lukehart, of Creekside RD 1, and Dale Cornman, of Plumville.
    Friends will be received after 2 o'clock this afternoon in the Bowser Funeral Home in Plumville where services will be held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon.  The Reverend David E. Bickett will officiate and burial will be in the Clarion Center Cemetery.

1892 - DANIEL CRIBBS, [illegible] o'clock, Daniel Cribbs, one of the oldest citizens of this county, died at the residence of his son, Harvey H. Cribbs in this city [Tuscaloosa, AL].  The death of Mr. Cribbs was not unexpected, as he had been in failing health for some time sicking gradually each day.
    At the time of his death, he was in his ninety-second year having been born in the year 1800.  He was a man of remarkable vitality and until a few months ago had never known from experience what sickness was.
    He came to this county about 1840, since which time he has always been one of its most useful and highly respected citizens.  He held the office of sheriff of Tuscaloosa county before the war and made a faithful and [illegible] official.  He was a member of the Baptist Church, an uncompromising democrat and a good citizen; and leaves behind him a record of a well-spent life, an example that young men would do well to emulate.
    Of the large family that he reared, only three sons survive him, vis: - Messrs. Harvey and Ed Cribbs, of this county, and P. A. Cribbs, of Texas.  To them and their families the Gazette joins with the community in extending sympathy in this hour of bereavement.
    The funeral services were conducted by Rev. David M. Ramsey assisted by Dr. C. A. Stillman at 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon at the Baptist church in this city, and were largely attended.  At the conclusion of the impressive services the remains were conveyed to Evergreen cemetery, where all that was mortal of the good old man was laid to the rest in the silent city of the dead.

1998 - REV. JAMES MICHAEL CRIBBS,  HANCOCK, NY  — The Rev. Father James Michael Cribbs, 36, pastor of St. Paul the Apostle Church, Hancock, passed away peacefully Saturday morning Jan. 24, 1998 at the Wilson Regional Medical Center in Johnson City.
    Father Cribbs was born Jan. 18, 1962 in Sidney. He was the son of John "Jack" Cribbs and the late Marian Russell Cribbs. He was educated in the Sidney Central Schools. He attended St. John Fisher College and graduated from St. Mary's Seminary
University in Baltimore, Md. Father Cribbs was ordained June 2, 1990 in Albany.
    Father Cribbs had served as associate pastor of St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Delmar, Our Lady of the Assumption
Church, Latham and St. John the Evangelist Church, Schenectady. At the present time, Father Cribbs was serving as pastor of
St. Paul the Apostle Church in Hancock.
    He is survived by his father, John P. Cribbs of Sidney; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Jane and Kevin Ku of Overland Park, Kan. and Anne and Robin Davis of Carthage; two brothers and a sister-in-law, John and Cindy Cribbs of Raleigh, N.C. and Robert Cribbs of Kansas City, Kan.; four aunts, Dorothy Pierce, Theresa Shelton, Helen Halbert and Jean Eldridge; one uncle, Thomas Cribbs; seven nieces and nephews, Matthew, Melissa, Benjamin, Sarah and Jonathan Ku and Christopher and his godchild, Alexandra Davis; also several cousins.
    A reception of the body will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27 at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Delmar. Visitation will
follow until the parish service at 7 p.m.
    Friends are invited to call at the C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney, Wednesday, Jan. 28 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. The family will be in attendance from noon-2 p.m.
    A reception of the body will be held at his parish church, St. Paul the Apostle Church, Hancock, Wednesday evening at 5 p.m.  Visitation will follow from 5-9 p.m. at the church. A parish service will be held at 7 p.m. that evening.
    On Thursday, Jan. 29, 1998, a reception of the body will be held at 9 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Church, Sidney. Visitation will follow until 11:30 a.m. at the church.
    A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon Thursday, Jan. 29, 1998 from the Sacred Heart Church, Liberty Street, Sidney. The Most Rev. Father Howard J. Hubbard, bishop, of Albany, will be celebrant.
    Burial will be at the family's convenience in the spring in the Prospect Hill Cemetery, Sidney.
    Memorial gifts in his name may be directed to St. Paul the Apostle Church, Hancock, N.Y. 13783 or to the Sacred Heart

1972 - JOSEPH M. CRIBBS, SR., 66, 51 Maple Ave., Blairsville, died Wednesday, March 8, 1972, at his home.
    Born in Blairsville Aug. 27, 1905, he was a son of Roy and Margaret Gray Cribbs.
    His wife, Louise M. Taubler Cribbs, preceded him in death in 1970.
    He retired in 1970 after 45 years with Penn Central Railroad.
    Mr. Cribbs was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Blairsville.
    Surviving are two sons: Joseph M., Jr., Buffalo, N.Y.; Roy F., Blairsville; a daughter, Mrs. Carl (Jerry) Mrenko, Blairsville RD 3; seven grandchildren; three brothers: James, Blairsville RD 1; John, West Bridgewater; Arthur L., Blairsville; four sisters: Mrs. E. B. (Margaret) Silvis, Brush Valley; Mrs. Alfred (Nancy) Steele, Oklahoma, Pa.; Mrs. Charles (Caroline) Gilson, Wilmington, Del.; Mrs. V. C. (Olla) Stewart, Arnold.
    A son, Robert, preceded him in death in 1966.
    The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. today and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Richard K. Shoemaker Funeral Home, Blairsville, where services will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Walter L. Wenhold officiating.  Interment will be made in the Blairsville Cemetery.
    In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Blairsville Public Library.

1966 - ROBERT WADE CRIBBS, Sr., 32, of Belle Vernon, formerly of Blairsville, died suddenly Friday, March 25, 1966, in Veteran's Administration Hospital, Pittsburgh.
    A son of Joseph M. and Louisa Taubler Cribbs, he was born July 2, 1933 in Blairsville.
    He was employed as a draftsman at the Westinghouse AstroNuclear Lab in Pittsburgh.  Mr. Cribbs was a member of Belle Vernon Presbyterian Church and served in the U. S. Navy submarine service in the Korean conflict.  He was a member of the National Reserve Construction Battalion, McKeesport.
    Surviving are his widow Mary Louise Gibson Cribbs; his parents, mentioned above; a son, Robert Wade, Jr., a daughter, Melissa Louise; two step-sons, Bruce Lee and James Paul Patterson; one step-daughter, Margaret Marie Patterson, all at home; two brothers and one sister: Joseph M., Buffalo, N.Y.; Roy S., Blairsville, and Mrs. Carl (Geraldine) Mrenko, of Blairsville R.D. 3.

1984 - JAMES D. CRIBBS, Sr., 77, of Blairsville RD 1, died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 1984, in the Indiana Hospital.
    A son of John Roy and Margaret E. Gray Cribbs, he was born Aug. 11, 1907, in Blairsville.
    Mr. Cribbs was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Black Lick; Acacia Lodge No. 355 F&AM; Coudersport Consistory; Blairsville Travelers Club; BPOE No. 406 Blairsville; Order of United Commercial Travelers of America.
    He was a former employee of FMC Corp, Blairsville plant, retiring in 1972.
    Surviving are his wife, Margaret L. Kuhns Cribbs; one son, James D., Jr., Blairsville; two daughters: Mrs. Mary Ellen Friedline, Blairsville; Mrs. Robert (Dorothy) Burkey, Black Lick; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; two brothers: John, Bridgewater; Arthur, Blairsville; four sisters: Mrs. Margaret Silvus, Brush Valley; Mrs. Nancy Steele, Vandergrift; Mrs. Olla Stewart, Arnold; Mrs. Caroline Gilson, New Castle, Del.
    He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Joseph M.; a sister, Betty Cost; two infant children.
    Friends will be received from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday and from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday in the Richard L. Shoemaker Funeral Home, Blairsville, where services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday.  Rev. Arthur R. Kaufman will officiate and interment will follow in Blairsville Cemetery.
    BPOE will hold services at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home, followed by Masonic services at 8:00 p.m.

1953 - LORETTA JANE CRIBBS HUNTER, 504 North Second street, Apollo, died at her residence Saturday night, June 27, 1953, at 9:00 o'clock.
    She was born in Westmoreland county, a daughter of James and Katherine Bollinger Cribbs.
    She was the widow of Dr. J. C. Hunter.
    Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Martha Unger, Apollo, Mrs. Mildred Beighley, Canton, Ohio; a son, Lauren Hunter, Canton, Ohio; a sister, Mrs. Hallie Cole, Latrobe; 10 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
    Friends were received at the King Brothers funeral home, Apollo, where services were held at 1:30 Wednesday afternoon with the Rev. William Hankey, First Lutheran church, in charge.   Burial was in the Apollo cemetery.

1901 - B. B. CRIBBS [Burbage Brock], of Blairsville met with almost instant death beneath the wheels of a freight car at Blairsville Intersection last Wednesday [July 3, 1901] night.  Cribbs was employed as a brakeman on the night yard shifter at Blairsville.  The crew had gone out to the Intersection for cars and was drilling in the yard when the accident happened.  Cribbs and another brakeman were standing on top of a freight car.  When the train pulled out the car became uncoupled from the engine.  The engine then slowed up and the car bumped into it with terrific force.  Cribbs was unable to retain his footing and fell to the track under the moving train.    The wheels of the car passed over him, frightfully crushing both legs from the knees to the hips.   His arms were also badly crushed and his head was cut.  He died almost instantly.  The remains were immediately removed to his home in Blairsville.  The deceased was aged about 46 years and had been in the employ of the Pennsylvania Railroad Company for 30 years serving as a brakeman all the time.  He leaves his widow and 11 children.  The funeral services, conducted by the Rev. R. E. McClure, were held in the Blairsville United Presbyterian Church Saturday afternoon.  Interment was made in Blairsville.

1904 - SALINA JANE CRIBBS FAIR, beloved wife of Mark Fair, died at her home in Dakota City [Nebraska] last Sunday.  She had been in failing health for several years and for some months had been almost a helpless invalid, gradually and slowly failing.  She slept herself into the other world with a pleasant smile on her lips.  They came to Nebraska in 1868 and settled on a farm southwest of town, selling it about eight years ago and removing to town, where, like other retired farmers, they have been enjoying themselves in ease and comfort.  She was a native of Indiana County, Pa., born February 27, 1828, being in her 76th year.  She was united in marriage to Mark Fair Dec. 26, 1854.  All of her family were with her when she died except a daughter who resides in Oregon.  Her children, five daughters and two sons, are all married except two, and are as follows: Mrs. John T. Bressler, Wayne [Nebraska]; Mrs. Helen Hanson, Dixon County; Mrs. Ida Gribble, Hubbard; Porter, Council Bluffs, Iowa; Mrs. Kate Jensen, Gaston, Oregon; Harvey R., Omaha; and Gertie, who resides at home and took care of the household.
    The funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Lutheran church, conducted by Rev. S. M. Lesher, the remains being followed to the Dakota City cemetery by a large concourse of mourners who were her friends and acquaintances.  The floral offerings were numerous and beautiful.
    The bereaved family desire in this manner to express their heartfelt thanks to the friends and neighbors who so kindly rendered aid and assistance during the loss of wife and mother.

1988 - JAMES K. CRIBBS, 83, of 30 Beltz Road, Home (PA), died Friday, Sept. 30, 1988, at the Indiana Hospital.
    The son of James G. and Mary Elizabeth McKee Cribbs, he was born Jan. 25, 1905, in South Mahoning Township, Indiana County.
    Mr. Cribbs lived his entire life in South Mahoning Township and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
    Surviving is one brother, Walter C., Home.
    He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Cloud; and one sister, Alberta Parsons.
    Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 Sunday at Robinson-Lytle's, Indiana, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Reid S. Blystone officiating.  Interment will be in the Marion Center Cemetery.

1975 - ROY JOSEPH CRIBBS, 82, of Needles, Calif., died Wednesday, March 26, 1975 at the Needles Municipal Hospital.
    A son of George and Belle Green Cribbs, he was born Dec. 23, 1892 at Dixonville [PA].
    He was the owner and operator of the Cribbs Convalescent Home at Josephine, for 25 years, and had lived in California since 1966.
    Surviving are his widow, Anna M. Kasich Cribbs; four sons: George, Torrance, Calif.; Carl and Harry, Garden Grove, Calif.; John, New Cumberland; eight daughters: Mrs. Betty Yingling, Montclair, Calif.; Mrs. Marian Nestor, Emporium; Mrs. Imogene Rocco, Mrs. Esther Constantino, both of Upland, Calif.; Mrs. Joyce Smeltzer, Chino, Calif.; Mrs. Althea Bender, Needles, Calif.; Mrs. Mary Barna, Youngstown, Ohio; 26 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Eva Miller, Altoona.
    He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mabel Cribbs.
    Friends will be received from 2-9 p.m. Wednesday at Robinson-Lytle's, Indiana.  Graveside services will be conducted Thursday, April 3, at 10 a.m. in Greenwood Cemetery, Indiana.

1988 - ISABELLE T. SHANER CRIBBS, 74, 182 Summit St., West Leechburg, died Saturday, Sept. 17, 1988, at 5:15 am. in Allegheny Valley Hospital, Natrona Heights, Harrison.
    She was born June 29, 1914, in Gilpin Twp., and had lived at her Summit St. home for 45 years.
    Mrs. Cribbs was a member of Hebron Evangelical Lutheran Church, Leechburg, and West Leechburg Crime Watch and Volunteer Fire Co. Auxiliary.
    Survivors include two sons, Robert Cribbs, Placerville, Calif., and Richard Cribbs, Ford Cliff; a daughter, Mrs. Emilio (Judy) Perez, West Leechburg; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Norman Shaner, Gilpin Twp.; and two sisters, Nancy Bopp, West Leechburg and Violet Shutt, Denver.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Maria Lambing Shaner; her husband, Robert W. Cribbs in 1978; two brothers, Earl and Daniel Shaner; and two sisters, Maude Shaner and Mabel Bopp.
    Arrangements were made by Clawsons, Second at Main, Leechburg.
    Burial was in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.

1905 - GEORGE W. CRIBBS - Mr. George W. Cribbs, aged 84 years, died at his home in Blacklick township on Tuesday, October 3 at 7 o'clock in the morning.  Funeral services will be held at 10 o'clock on Thursday and interment will follow in the family plot on the farm of the deceased.  Mr. Cribbs is survived by his wife and the following children: Mrs. John Bennett, Mrs. Alex. Varner, S. M., D. W. and E. E. Cribbs, of Blairsville; W. M., of DuBois; Frank, of Driftwood; Mrs. J. A. Mabon, of Indiana; Mrs. Cover, of Blacklick township and John F., at home.

1986 - STELLA M. CRIBBS, 66, of Superior, Derry RD 2, died Wednesday, June 11, 1986 at Latrobe Area Hospital.
    Mrs. Cribbs was born June 8, 1920 in Pittsburgh, daughter of the late Albert and Eva Smith Bialas.
    Survivors include three sons, Robert W. Jr., Latrobe and John J. and Stanley R. both at home; a daughter, Mrs. John (Mary Ann) Byce, New Alexandria; three brothers and three sisters, Kenneth, Bruno and Joseph and Mrs. Andrew (Bertha) Banocy, Mrs. Edward (Wanda) Kociszewski and Mrs. Viola Bialas, all of Superior.
    Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Saturday in St. Martin's Roman Catholic Church, New Derry, by Rev. Bede Hasso.  Interment followed in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Derry.

1969 - MRS. VIOLA O. CRIBBS, 85, of Hawthorn, died Sunday, Feb. 23, 1969, in the Grandview Convalescent Home in Clarion.
    Born July 5, 1883, in Brookville, she was a daughter of Lewis and Levera Focht Heller.
    She was first married to Edward A. Crawford, who died in November 1937.  She later married Frank Cribbs, who preceded her in death in 1957.
    Mrs. Cribbs lived her entire life in Hawthorn.  She was a member of the Hawthorn United Methodist Church for over 60 years.
    She is survived by a son, Roy E. Crawford of New Bethlehem RD 3; two grandsons, Howard R. Crawford of Pleasant Hills, Pittsburgh, and Larry Crawford of New Bethlehem; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Pearl Deily of Hawthorn.
    Two brothers, Ralph and Charles, preceded her in death.
    Funeral services will be held at 2 pm. today (Wednesday), in the Charles D. Alcorn Funeral Home, Hawthorn, with the Rev. Jack Friggle officiating.
    Interment will follow in the family plot in the Hawthorn Cemetery.

1932 - MRS. MATILDA CRIBBS VERNER, 75 years old, widow of Alex Verner, died at 6:40 am. today [March 26, 1932] in her home, 311 East Chestnut street, Blairsville, of a complication of diseases.
    Mrs. Verner was born in Blacklick township, near Blairsville, August 28, 1856, and was a daughter of George H. Cribbs and Keziah (Davis) Cribbs.  Mrs. Verner had resided in Blairsville 47 years and was a member of the First Baptist Church.
    The deceased leaves a son, Stanley Verner, of Springdale; two daughters: Mrs. Lloyd Flack and Mrs. J. H. Graham, both of Blairsville; four brothers: F. M. Cribbs, of New Bethlehem; John F. Cribbs, of Blacklick township; and E. E. Cribbs and S. M. Cribbs, both of Blairsville; and two sisters: Mrs. Lavina Mabon, of Indiana, and Mrs. John Bennett, of Blairsville.  Her husband died in 1930.
    Funeral services will be held in her late residence at 2 pm. Tuesday in charge of the Rev. J. T. Davis, minister of the First Baptist Church of Blairsville, assisted by the Rev. F. L. Bardens, of Blairsville.  Interment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery.

1998 - MARJORIE R. CRIBBS, 62, Derry, Westmoreland Co., PA, Friday, September 4, 1998, Blairsville Dispatch, Indiana Co., PA.

1913 - JOHN C. CRIBBS, 83, Death of Summit Pioneer, John C. Cribbs, pioneer resident of Summit, died in his home in that township last Friday night of cancer of the stomach.  Mr. Cribbs, who was 83 years of age, had for thirty-nine years been a resident of Mason County, and had in those years won an enviable reputation for uprightness and piety.  Since the death of his wife seven years ago, he has been cared for by his son George, who lived with him on the original farm homestead.
   Mr. Cribbs is survived by seven children, of whom the daughters are: Mrs. Andrew Kistler of Summit, Mrs. Elgin Lent of Cherokee, Ia., Mrs. John Rinehart of Traverse City, and the sons, Philip of this city, George of Summit, Will of Manistee and James of Fort Madison, Ohio.  Of children and grandchildren there are more than thirty.    Funeral services were held Monday from the residence, conducted by Rev.  John C. Cribbs passed away at his home in Summit at 12 o'clock at the age of eighty-three years.   Mr. Cribbs had been suffering with a cancer of the stomach for some time, but until four weeks ago was unable to be about in his usual manner.  From that time he has been a terrible sufferer, but through it all, while conscious, had been patient and loving as was his disopition.  Mr. Cribbs had been a resident of Summit thirty-nine years, and is well known thruoghout Mason county.  His son George made his home with his father since the death of his wife seven years ago yesterday, but Mr. Cribbs stayed by the old home until the last.  He was a faithful member of the Evangelical church of Summit, always willing to do his share and ever consecrated to his church.   He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Elgin Lent of Cherokee, Iowa; Mrs. John Rinehart of Traverse City; and Mrs. Andrew Kistler of Summit, four sons, Will of Manistee, Phillip of this city, James of Fort Madison, Iowa, and George of Summit, twenty-four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, besides a host of friends who will always remember the kind, loving, and sympathetic nature of Mr. Cribbs.  The family have the sincerest sympathy of all in this deep sorrow.   Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock from the residence by Rev. 1906 - KATHERINE RUPERT CRIBBS, 75, Mrs. J.C. Cribbs, wife of one of the prominent farmers of Summit was found dead in her bed Friday morning.  Mr. Cribbs arose early as usual and after starting the fires, waited for his wife to come down to breakfast.  When she did not put in an appearence he went to her room and found her lying as she had been when he left her.  Upon investigating he discovered she was dead, but so peacefully had the end came that to all appearences she might have only been sleeping.  A corner was summoned who rendered a verdict of death from heart trouble.  Mrs. Cribbs was 75 years old and had enjoyed fairly good health for one of her advanced years and the evening before her death had worked in the garden.   Besides a husband, a family of 7 grown children survive her, all but two of them reside in the county.
They are: George, Phillip and Ed Cribbs, Mrs. Ella Kistler and Mrs. Maggie Rinehart.   The family have resided in Mason county for the thirty years.  - The Ludington Chronicle  13  Jun 1906   p. 2

1930 - LUELLA CRIBBS KISTLER, 64, Mrs. Luella A. Kistler passed away at the home of her daughter Mrs. Gordon Button, Friday March 14.
   Deceased was born in Illinois April 28, 1865, being almost 65 years of age when death called.  The
remains were taken to the former home at Ludington by the Finley hearse Sunday where where the
funeral services were held in the Dorrell funeral palors Monday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock.
   Several relatives and friends remain in Ludington as well as at other points who will miss the departed

    - Another article: FORMER SUMMIT WOMAN IS DEAD AT FLAT ROCK,  Word has been received here of the death of Mrs. Luella Kistler of Flat Rock, Mich., former Summit resident, who passed away Friday afternoon.  She suffered a paralytic stroke and had been ill since November.
   Luella Cribbs was born in Naperville, Ill., April 28, 1865.  She came to Summit when a girl of nine and was married there to Andrew Kistler who preceded her in death in 1918.
   Surviving are the sons and daughters, Carl E. Kistler of Benton Harbor, Maud of Warren, O.; Effie of Flat Rock, Ralph Kistler of Summit and Bessie of Warren, O.; three brothers, George and Philip Cribbs of Ludington and William of Paw Paw.  There are also seven grandchildren.

    - Another article: Pioneer of County Buried in Summit,  FRENCH SCHOOL DISTRICT, Summit Twp, Mich, March 27 - Funeral services for Mrs. Luella Kistler of Flat Rock , Mich., were held from the Dorrell funeral home Monday afternoon, March 17, with Rev. C. A. Lemon officiating.
   Mrs. Kistler had been a resident of Summit for nearly 50 years and had watched and aided in its development from a wilderness into a fruitful farming community.
Maintained Cheerful Home.  The home over which she presided was always one of hospitality and cheer.  Hard-working, self-sacrificing, she lived for her home, husband and children.
   Through her loveable character she won many friends who, although absent for the past 10 years, did not forget her as was attested by many who came to pay their last respects at her funeral.
   Rev. Lemon spoke of the value of the life of a pioneer mother such as Mrs. Kistler had been.
   Two songs were sung by Louis and Guy Hawley.
   The body was carried to its last resting place in Summit cemetery by Levi McClatchie, Charles Houk, Oscar Hawley, B. C. Austin, F. Christoffersen and Ernest Wilke.
Relatives Attend Service.   Mr. and Mrs. Carl Kistler of Benton Harbor, Mr. and Mrs. Cyril Herbert and Mrs. John Reese of Warren, O., who accompanied the body from Flat Rock, left for their homes Tuesday, March 18. Mrs. Herbert,
formerly Bessie Kistler will remain in Flat Rock for some time to take care for her sister, Mrs. Gordon Button, who is seriously ill.
   Mr. and Mrs. William Cribbs of Paw Paw, Mrs. John Rhinehart of Colema, Mr. and Mrs. John Rhinehart, Jr. and Mrs. Roy C???e of Traverse City and Mrs. Gladys Beard of Big Rapids came to attend the funeral.   - from Ludington newspaper 27 Mar 1930

1999 - MARCELLA CRIBBS NESBITT, 81, died Jan. 13 at Chatham Nursing Home.   She was born in Bryan County and was formerly employed by Tradewinds Shrimp Co. in Thunderbolt. She was a member of Taliaferro Baptist Church and was active in the Sunday School and Church Training departments. She was also a member of the Women's Missionary Union and later joined Whitemarsh Island Baptist Church, where she was also active in the Sunday School and Church Training departments and a member of the Women's Missionary Union.
SURVIVORS: her husband, Floyd Nesmith of Savannah; two sons, William Lonnie Nesmith of Savannah and Thomas Floyd Nesmith of Warner Robins; seven grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
VISITATION: 6-9 p.m. today at Hubert C. Baker Funeral Home.
FUNERAL: 11 a.m. Saturday at Whitemarsh Island Baptist Church, burial in Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery.

1910 - WILLIAM L. CRIBBS, an oil well contractor formerly of Fostoria, [OH], well known in the Lima fields, was killed at Martinsville, IL, on Wednesday, 2 Nov 1910, by an explosion at an oil well being drilled on the Langel farm, a few miles west of Martinsville, where the Ohio Oil Co., has holdings.   The boiler gave way, tearing Cribbs' body to pieces.   His son, Harold, who was working with him, was badly scalded.  Mr. Cribbs recently purchased a farm in Kansas and had intended to move there soon.  Survivors include: Mr. and Mrs. Cribbs of Fostoria; H. F. Cribbs of Bradner; Edgar Cribbs of Toledo; C. F. Cribbs of Fostoria, all of whom along with Claude Welliver, a son-in-law, went to Martinsville, called there by the death.   Mr. Cribbs contracted in the Lima fields previous to going to Illinois.
[His death certificate says: Cause of death: Disemboweled; arms and legs torn off.  William was a Stone Mason from 1870 to 1910.  He is buried in a cemetery near Bradner, along with Vista who died in 1948 at the age of 91.]
