BRODBECKS - Esta M. (Walker) Krebs,
82, of Brodbecks RD 2, died at 1:15 p.m. Thursday at York Hospital. She
was the wife of Merl E. Krebs. The couple had observed the 61st anniversary
of their wedding on June 14, 1992.
The service will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Geiple
Funeral Home Inc., 53 Main St., Glen Rock. Burial will be in St. Jacob's
(Stone) Church Cemetery. Viewing will be 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral
home.
Mrs. Krebs was born in Baltimore County, Md. She was the daughter of
the late Charles and Cora (Myers)
Walker.
She had been employed by A.M.P. Inc. at both the
Brodbecks and Loganville plants for over 20 years, retiring as an inspector
in 1974. She was a member of St. Jacob's (Stone) Lutheran Congregation
and Sunday School.
Mrs. Krebs also is survived by a son, James M. Krebs of Severn, Md.;
three daughters, Betty M. Darr of Hanover, Beulah A. Kopp of York, and
Joyce E. Hoover of Severna Park, Md.; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren;
a sister, Mary Heindel of Shrewsbury; two brothers, Claude Walker of Shrewsbury,
and Lewis Walker of Steltz.
Officiating at the service will be her pastor, the
Rev. Richard C. Weaver.

SAGINAW Lucille L. (Frye) Krebs,
72, of Saginaw, died at 12 a.m. Wednesday at York United Methodist Home,
after a brief illness. She was the wife of James E. Krebs.
The service will be 2 p.m. Friday at the L.E. Diehl
Funeral Home Inc., 87 S. Main St., Mount Wolf. Burial will be in Saginaw
Cemetery. There will be no viewing.
Mrs. Krebs was born on Aug. 6, 1921, in Shenandoah
County, Va. She was the daughter of the late William and Tracy (Wilkins)
Frye.
She was employed 10 years by St. Regis Paper Co.,
Mount Wolf, retiring in 1970. She was a 1938 graduate of East Berlin High
School, and a graduate of Thompson Business School.
A member of Community United Methodist Church, she
belonged to the Colonial Button Club of York, and the Molly Pitcher Button
Club of Harrisburg.
She was known as the town historian due to her enjoyment
in learning the history of the area.
Mrs. Krebs also is survived by a daughter, Ann L. Rudisill of Starview;
two grandchildren; two brothers, Melvin Frye of Beaverton, Ore., and Gene
Frye of Las Cruces, N.M.; and a sister, Leona Miller of Brogue.
Officiating at the service will be her pastor, the
Rev. Jack Feaster.

YORK NEW SALEM - Stewart S. Krebs,
85, of York RD 28, died at 7:55 p.m. Monday at York County Hospital and
Home, where he lived two years. He was the husband of Ruth V. (Smith) Krebs.
The couple had observed the 57th anniversary of their wedding on June 1.
The service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Zion Lutheran
Church, 49 Hanover St., Glen Rock. Burial will be in St. Jacob's (Stone)
Cemetery, Brodbecks. Viewing will be 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church.

Mr. Krebs was born in Codorus Township. He was the
son of the late George T. and Savanna (Shue) Krebs.
A poultry farmer most of his lifetime, he was employed over 50 years
at the Leader Farms, Leader Heights, where he was supervisor of poultry
production, until his retirement eight years ago.
He also had raised turkeys and chickens at his farm
in the Centerville area of Glen Rock.
A member of Zion Lutheran Church, Glen Rock, he was a former member
of Glen Rock Lions Club. He moved to the York New Salem area nine years
ago.
Mr. Krebs also is survived by two daughters, Norma
J. Krebs of York RD 28, and Donna L. Bowser of Abington, Md.; three grandsons;
three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marie Mehring of York, and Minnie
Sweeney of
Shrewsbury; four brothers, Pierce Krebs and Norman
Krebs, both of York, Washington Krebs of Shrewsbury, and Jeremiah Krebs
of Spring Grove RD 1.
Officiating at the service will be his pastors,
the Rev. Thomas D. Hartley and Vicar Jan L. Elsasser.

SHREWSBURY - Lewis F. "Louie" Krebs,
98, of Shrewsbury Lutheran Retirement Village, formerly of Glen Rock, died
Saturday evening at the home, where he resided since 1986. He was the husband
of the late Lottie V. (Meckley) Krebs.
The service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Geiple Funeral
Home Inc., 53 Main St., Glen Rock. Burial will be in St. Jacob's (Stone)
Church Cemetery. Viewing will be 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Krebs was born in Codorus Township. He was the
son of the late Lewis and Leah (Caslow) Krebs.
He retired in 1959 from the former Glen Traditionals Inc., where he
was an assembler for several years. He had previously worked as a laborer
with Geiple Furniture and Funeral Home, Glen Rock, and had been caretaker
at St. Jacob's (Stone) Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War
I, serving as a cook with Company H of the 316th Infantry Regiment in the
European Theatre. He was the last World War I veteran member of Austin
L. Grove American Legion Post #403, Glen Rock. He was the oldest member
of the Lutheran congregation of St. Jacob's (Stone) Church and Sunday school.
He was a member of Sandilands Commandery #152 A&IO Knights of Malta,
York; Knights of Pythius, Friendly Lodge #287, Glen Rock; Glen Rock Hose
and Ladder Fire Co.; and Glen Rock Fireman's Relief Association.
Mr. Krebs is survived by nieces and nephews.
Officiating at the service will be his pastor, the
Rev. Richard C. Weaver.

Community Hospital. He was the husband of Janet E. (Linkous) Krebs.

Mr. Krebs was born in Railroad. He was the son of

He was an avid baseball fan and player.
Mr. Krebs also is survived by a son, Larry D. Krebs
of Ephrata; and a daughter, J. Catherine Krebs Lesperance of Manheim.

89, of Shrewsbury Lutheran Retirement Village, died at 7 a.m. Thursday
at York Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Florence
A. (Miller) Krebs. The couple observed their 61st wedding anniversary June

Mr. Krebs was born Sept. 12, 1909, in Codorus Township.
He was the son of the late John A. and Ellen (Rohrbaugh) Krebs.
He was a wire wrapper at the former Superior Wire
Cloth in Shrewsbury, retiring in 1976 after many years of service. Prior
to that, he worked at the former Seiling Furniture Co. in Railroad, and
had also farmed in the Codorus Township area for 28 years. He was a member
of Zion "Shaffers" United Lutheran Church, where he was a past council
member and member of the Sunday School. He was also a charter life member
of Jefferson Fire Company.
Mr. Krebs also is survived by two sisters, Mildred
M. Shaffer of Glen Rock RR 5 and Erma Payne of Shrewsbury; and nieces and
nephews.
Officiating at the service will be his pastor, the
Rev. J. Thomas Shelley.

79, of Glen Rock RR 4, died at 12:10 a.m. Monday at Rest Haven-York after
a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Nova I. (Meckley) Krebs.

Mr. Krebs was born Nov. 24, 1919, in Codorus Township.
He was the son of the late Lloyd E. and Annie Marie (Graser) Krebs.
He was a designer and draftsman at York International,
retiring in 1982 after more than 45 years of service, and was a member
of its 25-year club. He served on the former Codorus Township School Board
and Southern York County Joint School District Board for 20 years, served
as auditor for Codorus Township for 17 years, and on the Shrewsbury Lutheran
Home Committee for many years. He was a member of South Central York County
Senior Citizens Center in Glen Rock and Lutheran Congregation of St. Jacob's
(Stone) Church, where he was past council member, served on various other
committees of the church, was a 50-year member and past officer and teacher
of its Sunday school. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and a
1937 graduate of Codorus Township High School.
Mr. Krebs is survived by two sons, Kenneth E. Krebs
of Glen Rock and Sidney W. Krebs of Glen Rock RD 4; a daughter, Twila F.
Paul of Gibsonia; seven grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; and
a sister, Frances E. Garver of Glen Rock RR 1.

Lutheran Church and its Keenagers. He was a U.S.
Army Air Corp veteran of World War II, having received
the Philippines Liberation Ribbon with a Bronze Star, American Theater
Service Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Service Medal with a Bronze Star
and Victory Medal.
Mr. Krebs also is survived by a son, Dr. Stephen J. Krebs of Carlisle;
a daughter, Patricia E. Vitz of York; three grandchildren; and a stepbrother,
Paul Leiphart of Norfolk, Va.

78, of Cross Keys Village in New Oxford, died at 8:55 p.m. Saturday at
the Brethren Home.
The service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Emmanuel
United Church of Christ, 124 Broadway, Hanover. Burial will be in Mount
Olivet Cemetery, with military rites by Allied Veterans Council of Hanover.

Mr. Krebs was born July 21, 1920, in Hanover. He
was the son of the late John C. and Katharine (Brough) Krebs. He
worked at the former J. H. Brough & Co., now Shultz Insurance Agency,
retiring after 37 years of service. He was past president of Hanover Area
Chamber of Commerce and was on the board for many years, past member of
Hanover General Hospital Board of Directors, where he served as treasurer
from 1968 to 1978, past member and president of Mount Olivet Cemetery Board
of Directors, member of Board of Directors of First Federal Savings Bank,
retiring in 1993 after 43 years of service, and member and past president
of Arcadian Social Club in Hanover. He helped organize and was past president
of Allied Veterans Council of Hanover, helped organize, was a life member
and served as post commander of AMVETS Post 22 in Hanover.
He was also a life member of Harold H. Bair American
Legion Post 14 in Hanover and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2506 in Hanover.
He was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ, where he was on consistory
for many years. He was a 1939 graduate of Eichelberger High School, and
1940 graduate of Mercersburg Academy. He was also a graduate of Wharton
School of Finance of Commerce of the University of Pennsylvania. He received
five Battle Stars and was award the Bronze Star in December 1945.
Mr. Krebs is survived by a brother, William B. Krebs
of New Oxford; a sister, Katharine (Davis) Taylor of Solana Beach, Calif.;
and nieces and nephews.
Officiating at the service will be his pastor, the
Rev. Kenneth S. Heasley.

Church, retiring in 1977 after 17 years of service. She and her husband,
owned and operated the former Krebs AG Food Store in Brodbecks from 1945
to 1966. Prior to that, they had also operated grocery stores in York and
Glen Rock. She was a member of Lutheran Congregation of St.
Jacob's (Stone) Church, Advanced Bible Class of its Sunday school and
had taught Sunday school for more than 60 years at St. Mark's Lutheran
Church and St. James Lutheran Church, both in York, and Zion Lutheran Church
in Glen Rock, where she also sang in the church choirs. She served several
terms on the church council and the joint church council, was a member
of the Community Club and Lutheran Church Women, and served as music director
for vacation Bible school for more than 20 years. She was a volunteer at
Glen Rock Library and Shrewbury Lutheran Retirement Village.
Mrs. Krebs also is survived by a brother, Francis
E. Stauffer of Camp Springs, Md.

Albert Krebs died
at his residence at 114 Beverly Ct., Elyria Monday morning.
He was born in Ottoville, the son of
Henry and Theresa Krebs. His wife Annie survives, and two sons, Paul
and Lawrence of Elyria, also survive.
He was preceded in death by a daughter
Martha.
Mr. Krebs was a member of the Eagles
Lodge. Funeral arrangements are incomplete in Elyria.

Josephine M. Krebs,
87, formerly of 425 S. Canal St., died at 1:15 am Thursday in Delphos Memorial
Home.
She was born May 21, 1889 in Landeck to Nicholas
and Matilda (Elsesser) Sauber. She married Ferd Krebs Sept. 22, 1910
in Ottoville. He died May 21, 1949.
She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Marie
Wilson of Delphos, a half-sister, Mrs. Roy (Angie) Nye of Fostoria, a half-brother,
Cornelius of Fostoria.
She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church.
Mass of the Resurrection will be at 10 am
Saturday at St. John's. Burial will follow in St. John's cemetery.
Friends may call after 2 pm Friday at Kolkmeyer-Helmkamp
Funeral Home where a parish wake service will be held 8 pm Friday.

Mrs. Margaret Krebs,
91, formerly of Lima and Cloverdale, died at 6 am Thursday in Marlesta
Nursing Home, Findlay.
She was born Aug. 3, 1881 in Putnam county
to Jacob and Adeline (Salisbury) Martin. She married Jacob Krebs.
He died in 1955.
Surviving are three brothers, Jacob, John
and Clarence, all of Cloverdale; and one sister, Mrs. Burton (Elizabeth)
Mason of Findlay.
She was a member of the Lima United Methodist
Church.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 pm Saturday
at the Mount Pleasant Mennonite Church, near Continental, the Rev. Ronald
Martin officiating.
Burial will be in Cascade Cemetery near Cloverdale.
Visitation will be after 2 pm Friday until
noon Saturday in Richardson Funeral Home, Continental, when the body will
be taken to the church.
Jacob ``Jake''
Kreps Jr., 88, of Columbus, died Saturday, March 28, 1998, at
First Community Village in Columbus.
He was formerly from Akron, where he managed Mount Peace Cemetery and
was also an active member of the First United Church of Christ. He retired
as the general manager and superintendent of Union Cemetery Association
in Columbus after 16 years and became treasurer of the Board of Directors,
serving until 1996. He was a member of the Ohio Association of Cemetery
Superintendents and Officials and served as president from 1961 to 1962.
He was a former member of the Tri-Village Lions Club and a member of the
chorus at Upper Arlington Senior Center. He was also a member of First
Community Church.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Katherine Kreps; sons and daughters-in-law,
David and Marlene Kreps of Wilmington, Del., Norman and Betty Kreps of
Massillon, and Gary and Loretta Kreps of Wiliamsburg, Va.; grandchildren,
David, Scott, Todd, Kathy, Brad, and Bart Kreps; great-grandchildren, Ben
and Ashley; brother, George Kreps of Florida; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, April 2, 1998, at
Schoedinger Northwest Chapel, 1740 Zollinger Rd., Columbus, where friends
may call one hour prior to the service, from 12 non to 1 p.m. Rev. Barbara
Cunningham will officiate. Entombment at Union Cemetery Mausoleum. In lieu
of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice at Riverside/Grant, 3535
Olentangy River Rd., Columbus 43214-9861; or the American Cancer Society,
900 Michigan Ave., Columbus 43215-1165 in his memory.
